  • March 18: University women register for war work. 
  • March 21: Germans launch the March Offensive in an attempt to win war before American troops appeared in the trenches.  German advance is stopped in late June

  • April 5:  Third Liberty Loan drive. 
  • April 25: British and Australian troops stop German advance near Amiens.

  • May 3: Michigan governor Albert Sleeper creates "Arbor and Garden Day" to promote food conservation efforts

  • May 20: Red Cross Parade to kick off fundraiser in Washtenaw County from May 20-May 27.
  • May 23: Germans bomb Paris

  • May 31: Americans stop German advance at Chateau-Thierry.

  • August 3: Wilson sends “volunteer” troops into Russia

  • Aug 8: Allied counter offensive on Somme push German army to retreat.

  • Aug 31: Establishement of the Students Army Training Corps at the University of Michigan. 
  • Sept 27: Allied troops break through German fortifications at Hindenburg line.

  • Sept 28:  Fourth Liberty Loan drive. 
  • Oct 18: German sailors mutiny at port

  • Oct 30: Turkey signs armistice.

  • Nov. 9-10: Kaiser Wilhelm II abdicates and a German republic is founded.

  • Nov. 11: At 11 on 11th day of 11th month of 1918, Germany and Allies sign armistice.

  • Nov. 24: Radicals meet in Detroit to witness Russian Revolution
